The marketing world is stirring with talk after Miu Miu's latest advert in Vogue has been banned by The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). The campaign featured 22 year-old model Mia Goth, and was called 'irresponsible and likely to cause serious offence' by the agency.

Miu Miu, which is owned by Prada, ran a double-page ad that appeared to be shot through a slightly open doorway revealing Goth laying on a bed. ASA received numourous complaints that the image looked like a child who has been dressed as an adult and positioned in a sexually suggestive post. Prada responded, saying the ad was part of a campaign which used three different models showing glimpses of them through doorways to place the viewer in the heart of a multidimensional story.

Vogue UK have also came out to defend the ad, saying that it has a sophisticated reader that is educated to “appreciate top photography and great fashion models”.

This isn't the first time The Advertising Standards Authority has banned a Miu Miu advert, remember the ad depicting a teenage model sitting on the railway tracks.

Many fashion campaigns have been called up before by the advertising standards many times, accused of promoting drug use, sexual promiscuity, and anorexia to young children and teens. But when Miu Miu launched this ad campaign - starring 18 year-old actress Hailee Steinfeld in a vision of 40s grace with curled hair dressed in on-trend muted seventies shades - the brand muse have expected that a few raised eyebrows likely expected nothing more than a few raised eyebrows at the appropriateness of dressing a 14-year-old in a thousand-pound blouse.

The ad was banned due to Steinfield being sat on railway tracks, with ASU branding the campaign as leading an irresponsilbe image in a danerouse situation.

Is this a good call in the marketing industry, or overprotective?
